Vintage Collected Church Nursery

THE BRIEF

A local church was preparing to relocate into a new building and wanted their nursery ministry to feel as welcoming as the rest of their church.

The goal wasn't simply to decorate a nursery. It was to create an environment where mothers, babies, volunteers, and growing families would immediately feel cared for.

The design needed to:

work with a modest budget
incorporate existing furniture wherever possible
feel timeless instead of trendy
accommodate infants through toddlers
support volunteers with thoughtful organization
create a calming atmosphere for women in every stage of motherhood

Our Approach

Rather than beginning with furniture selections, we started with ministry.

We asked what the nursery should communicate before anyone ever picked up a child.

Our answer became:

Peace. Comfort. Care. Welcome.

From there, every recommendation filtered through those priorities.

Instead of replacing everything, we organized the project into clear phases, allowing the church to invest over time while immediately improving the experience for families.

The design balanced:

practical nursery function
hospitality
timeless aesthetics
long-term flexibility
stewardship of the church's resources

The result was a plan that could grow alongside the congregation rather than needing to be redesigned in just a few years.

Our Recommendations

We focused on thoughtful, high-impact improvements and additions while incorporating many of their existing pieces. A soft palette of sage, warm neutrals, natural wood, and brass created a calm, timeless foundation, while comfortable seating, layered lighting, and meaningful artwork made the nursery feel welcoming for families.

Functional storage solutions kept everyday essentials organized for volunteers, and a phased purchasing plan prioritized the most important investments first, allowing the church to improve the space over time while staying within budget.

Why It Worked

This project solved far more than a decorating problem.

It helped create an environment that supports and encourages young families.

By intentionally reusing existing pieces alongside carefully selected new additions, the nursery feels cohesive rather than pieced together.
